the Algarve is protected from Atlantic lows by mountains, extending
about 3,600 hours of sun to spoil the tourists. Spring starts in late
January already when the abundance of almond trees shows off a splendour
of white-pink blossoms, making the country seem covered by loads of
snow. The warm climate along the Algarve favours a unique piece of
nature. The "Salgados" Nature Reserve is only six kilometers
from Bem Parece, where colonies of pink-red flamingoes can be observed.

Algarve coast offers miles and miles of sandy beaches and picturesque
bays. Many of these beaches are awarded "blue flags" because
of their excellent water quality. If you are looking for an activity
holiday, you will find a number of sports to engage in, such as
surfing, diving, tennis or golf on one of the courses placed in
gorgeous nature sites. These are the top favourites of Algarve fans:
towns and villages with white-washed houses in front of the ever
azur-blue sky, rural vegetable and fish markets, small shops and
restaurants of regional flair, Moorish architecture and, last but
not least, the blue tials ("azulejos") which were brought
to the Iberian peninsular by the Moors in the eighth century; walking
tours in untouched areas of the countryside, discovering water scoop
wells ("noras") of ancient times, stone walls of Celtic
origin and a merely virgin flora and fauna.
